by Rebecca O'Donnell - Thursday, 19 August 2010, 11:05 AM

jolly roverFreeplay Independent Games Festival was held over last weekend, 14 – 15th of August. AIE Melbourne’s midyear programming teacher Andrew Goulding, founder of Brawsome (started in 2008) submitted his recently completed game, Jolly Rover.

Jolly Rover was nominated for two awards, Best Game Audio and Best Australian Game at Freeplay. To Andrew’s surprise Jolly Rover, a point and click adventure about a dog amidst pirates on the high seas, won Best Australian Game. “It was a huge honour for me and a credit to the team that worked on the game,” Andrew said.

The AIE would like to congratulate Andrew and his team on their achievements and success with Jolly Rover and hopefully this is just the first of many award winning games!

There will be Games, Activities and Fun things to be done as usual.

If you have work you'd like to showcase this will be an excellent opportunity! I'll be setting up a show-reel against a blank wall AND creating a tutorial from your student work for the Day.

In addition, I'm looking for volunteers to be part of my treasure hunt! (Not much is required)

If you're happy to contribute some work, talk about it, or volunteer your time, please drop by the front office and let me know.

Thanks all!
