The second Women in Games event went well with 4 very informative talks from industry experts working at 2K Australia, Red Tribe and Archeron Design. The web camera interviews worked really well and answers to questions directed to the speakers are being emailed to anyone who has requested them.
Many thanks to all speakers, attendees and people who willingly helped out.
The next event will be in early September and will be a large event with panels for discussions, games and a BBQ since it will be finally spring and we are having it on a saturday.
We're hosting another networking event for Women in Games on July 3rd. The event will be held at AIE Canberra at 6pm. Information can be found in attachment. This one is focused on the specialy areas for careers in the games industry and how to obtain the knowledge to get a job.
There are speakers from 2K Australia, Red Tribe, Archeron Design and an Emergent Learning Game Development expert. Talks start from 6:30pm.
A total of $6000 is available to applicants for the July 2008 mid-year intake in the intensive Certificate IV in Screen (3D Animation) and the Certificate IV in Information Technology (Games Programming). The mid-year courses run for six months, full-time for 40 hours per week. Applications for the scholarships can be downloaded here and all applicants for the
mid-year courses are encouraged to apply.
The Women in Games Event at Canberra AIE went very well
last night. 35 – 40 people attended and there was a very strong industry presence, mainly
from 2K Australia. Thanks to the heaters, platters of food, hot drinks, marshmallows and
the all important chocolates, the Canberra winter was warded off long enough
for all attendees to be warm and enjoy the fantastic talks, followed by plenty
of networking.

September at the Canberra Campus.
